My engine is a 1972 type 1 and I was hoping my chassis might be too but while buying tie rod ends recently, the 1972 bits don't fit. Too large on the taper part. Is there any number stamped on a chassis that may define my year or, are there any unique parts that I may look at that may pinpoint the year ? Thanks and best of the season to all.

Thanks for the leads fellas. Couldn't get a look up and over to the top of the tunnel before my parts guy told me the chassis is '67 or earlier by the size of tie rod parts that fitted correctly. The car runs straight as an arrow and I put about 300 miles on it over the New Years period since the weather has been very unseasonable and well over the freezing mark. Just traces of snow here and there which is weird for Ottawa, Canada this time of year.
