I purchased a mid 80s CMC 356 registered in Nevada as a 1964 VW roadster which is close cause that was the donor car. Oregon is not buying it so I need to register as a Replica. How do you determine what year? There is nothing in the manual. Do I just arbitrarily select any # 1955 - 1957?

The tear drop rear lights were introduced in 1957 (I believe mid year though). Prior year had the red double (2 per side) beehive tail lights. Porsche tended to use up what ever was still available on the assembly line - til they were gone. Most seem to go with '57. You could be different and say '58 too - if tear drop lenses or '54 if beehive..
The shine up/shine down rear licence plate light will also give a clue as to the year. Sorry, but I don't know which is early or late, or what year the change was made. Al
This should give you more than enough to sort out what year its supposed to be replicating..

cheers, Simon
thanks for the help. I preferred the look of the license plate above the light so I will register it as a 1957A. Also has curved windshield.
