Just announced by the New Jersey Replicar Club, hosts of the Saturday evening dinner:

Jim Youngs, editor of Kit Car Builder magazine will be the guest speaker at the Saturday evening dinner. His wife, Carolyn (aka "QueenBee"), and publisher of Kit Car Builder will also be there.

Register for dinner today by contacting Alan Merklin at drclock@comcast.net

April 20th and 21st are important dates to keep in mind.

April 20th - We currently have a block of hotel rooms set aside at the Hotel Carlisle. Rooms go FAST at Carlisle so once April 20 arrives rooms may be a bit together to get (and may be a little more expensive).

April 21st - The cost of registration goes from $15 to $25. Not a big deal but if we can get 25 Speedsters registered by this date Carlisle will buillt a nice big tent right by all of our Speedsters to we have a place to meet, stow stuff, socialize during the day and stay out of the sun.

See the SpeesetersEast website for more details:
Speedsterseast.home.att.net

Dont delay - register for Carlisle and reserve your hotel rooms today!!

Yes, even if you are unable to get your Speedster to Carlisle or are in the market - you are welcome to participate in the events of the weekend - The Friday morning cruise from Carlisle to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, the Friday evening cruise to the Sports Cafe and the Saturday evening gala dinner with speaker Jim Youngs (editor of Kit Car Builder). We even have a guy joining a cruise in his rental car!

All of the other events - seminars, car raffle, replica/import gatherings, swap meet, etc - are included in the price of admission.

I've received a few emails asking about this...now you know.
As if there aren't enough activities planned for Carlisle this year (see the top of this thread), I received a letter from Carlisle today announcing even more activities.

COOK-OFF, 3:00PM SATURDAY
"We've seen your tailgating feasts and we want to find out who has the best grub on the grounds (hey, we had to come up with some way to sample the great looking food!). Two Categories: Main course and dessert. Cash prizes for each category! 1st place - $200 PLUS a trophy, 2nd place - $100, 3rd place - $50. Sign-up at the event and report to the activity tent by 3PM. Judging will begin promptly at 3:15. Entries must be accompanied by a written recipe. All recipes will become the property of Carlisle Events. Winnning recipe will be posted on the web site. Bring enough of your entry for each of the 3 judges to taste (may require seconds!)".

And more on the 11:00AM SUNDAY TRIVIAL CHALLENGE:
"Participants will be given a sheet with 10 questions and will have 20 minutes to write the answers. Questions may mostly be car-related (there may be 1 or 2 odd-ball questions, just for fun!). People may work individually or with friends. The trivia host will check returned sheets for correct answers. Whoever has the most corret answers gets to choose from a selection of prizes, provided by our sponsors. Winners will also be recognized at the stage between the Awards Parade and the Giveaway. Start Studying!".

I updated the full schedule at the top of this thread.

See you there!!!

Now that we have the tent on the showfield I'll schedule a couple of Speedsterowners.com meetings at the tent during the weekend so everyone can congregate and meet each other, maybe ask questions and provide helpful tips. I tried to do this last year but was too rapped up running around seeing all the Speedsters and talking to the owners.

When you arrive at Carlisle stop by the Speedsterowners tent and check the schedule.
In another thread Jerome reminded me about the go-kart races and batting cages. Immediately following the gala Saturday evening dinner at the Sunnyside the diehards cruise down the road a couple of miles towards the hotel and stop at the local gokart track/batting cage facility. Last year "Hot foot" Norma (my right-seater and wife) took the lead and stayed there. Jerome claims he was catching her - but never did...sounds like a rematch in the making! Actually, I always tell her it's the lighter weight that does it.

BTW, Immediately following the fun park is major benchracing, Speedster stories and tipping of a few brewskees back at the hotel.

I'll add these activities to the list above, will also change the start time of dinner from 7:00 to 7:30.

Do we have enough going on yet?

Bruce, is there a quarter car wash near the hotel? I know that there is a rinse off area on the fairgrounds, but I found the high pressure water really helpful when I stopped in Barstow overnight on the way to Knotts for getting the bug splatters off. It makes the detailing on show day much easier, just a squirt here and there along with a soft polishing cloth and you're good to go.

Multiple quarters, Alan, multiple quarters. Even in Lenoir City they have one that eats 'em for breakfast. On the plus side, it is fully functioned, including the spot free rinse. And nary a worsh bucket in sight.
I'll be looking forward ta meetin' ya'll too.

Anybody giving any thought towards name badges? (and yes, I know "We don't need no stinkin Badges!") I never had a good memory for names and early-onset Alzheimer's is just making it worse, so badges of some sort might be nice........

I would be happy to provide them if you sent me a list of who's coming AND I could email the file to you (in case the Grandson arrives before we leave!!). I could base them on standard badge and holder stock readily available at Staples.....

What'cha tink?
I have the name badges started again for this year so don't worry about them, they're similar to the ones we had last year. If your name is on the list at the top of the "Who's coming to Carlisle, I need to Know" thread then there will be a name badge for you. Stop by the tent, sign up, pickup your t-shirt, get your raffle tickets.

Gordon,

If you have a folding table you can safely put on your trailer along with everything else, that would be helpful in the tent. Carlisle charges for them and I have one ordered but a second one would be helpful.
Speaking of raffles, we're having another one this year. Alan and I have begged the sponsors and picked up a few things over the past few months and the stash continues to grow. Here's the current rundown, check out the photos attached below.

Here's Alan's list of items and the name of the donaters:
COORS: T shirt, cap, insulated 6 pack cooler, bottle insulator,
Frisbee.
GRIOTS GARAGE: 2 - 35 oz. bottles of their "Speed Shine" spray
detailer.
INTERMECCANICA: Shirts and a set of their aluminum speedster side
trim.
JPS MOTORSPORTS: Jacket and polo shirt with the JPS logo.
SPECIAL EDITION-BECK SPEEDSTERS: Shop shirts, hats, VDO oil dip
stick temp gauge.
ALAN: Porsche Speedster wall/shop clock, set of new wide five nipple
caps with crests.

Heres Bruce's list:
2 custom car blankets (handmade by my right-seater)
"The Complete Porsche" by Brian Laban
"Andretti" by Paul Newan
"The Ultimate History of Porsche"
12-volt cordless drill kit
Compact 53-piece automotive toolket in zipper case
Telescoping magnetic tool
7-piece T-handle hex key set
1.5L of wine
2 Illuminated Triglo safety/hazard lights

If you have any items you would like to donate, please bring them along and add to the stash. Check for those parts sitting on the shelf that you don't need anymore or the ones you've been tripping over the past few months.

Tickets will be sold at the Speedster tent. All profits will be used to cover the costs of the Meet.

OK, I'm working (slowly, but still working) on a Speedster rear cowl mechanics cover. Black Vinyl with a padded underside to prevent scratching the car's paint when working on your engine.

When I did my last stitching project (fixing my top) I screwed up my wife's sewing machine (a BIG no-no for a Quilter's husband) so I'm approaching this "little" project carefully, but I should have one to donate to the raffle.
