Whats it worth?

I am looking at a 97 VS w/ 2000 miles in SC. Pristeen condition. 1776cc, 3.88 trans., headlight grilles, overall, barely used (cosmetically) from what I've seen. Asking $18k... and it's titled as a 57 Porsche. Is this a good price?

IMHO, I think a 10 year old VS would be more in the $15-16K range!

I'm with Jim, Del. 18K sounds too high for a ten year old VS, even in the condition you describe. With only 2,000 miles, I wonder also if the car has had long periods of inactivity; I would be wary that the car may have some "issues" if it spent a long time in storage.

Have you had a chance to find out how the car runs and drives and to see if everything is in working order?

I am actually flying on Thursday out to look at the car/consume the deal. I called the Porsche shop (don't ask how I got the # he had the car serviced at) and they said all they have ever done was oil changes and some minor tuning. Now the previous owner just drove it on weekends (rarely).

I'm pretty sure I can get it for $17k, we'll see.

I am in the process of selling my 2001 VS with 5k miles on it for $18K, so I would agree that may be a bit high, but not by too much.
