Chamonix and Beck is the same thing. Chamonix has been producing the Beck spyder in Brazil for many years. Special Edition is the US manufacturer of Beck.

Vintage and JPS are speedster manufactures(Vintage also makes the spyder). JPS gets their fiberglass body from Vintage.

Specialty Autoworks is a Subaru powered speedster made in TN.

I have these concerns as well, that is what makes these companies so interesting, It really allows you to do your own research on just who will build or make your Speedster. I will make a move on a new one within the next 3 months. Chuck Beck is the name most associated with Special Editions and Boulder. Chamonix makes their bodies in Brazil from what information I can find, Special Editions is the U. S. distributor. I have spoken with Valerie Hines, nice lady. Kevin Hines was recently featured in KIT CAR Magazine.
Kirk Duncan, and Vintage Speedsters are a competitor in Hawaiian Gardens, my suggestion is that you look him up and give him a call to find out from him where he gets what from who!! He is a nice person and wants you to have your 356 dream--even if you don't buy from him.
John Steele of JPS Motorsport is referred to alot in the Kit magazines and he is out of Los Angeles. He is reported to be a perfectionist!!

I think you will find that these guys are all accessible and have different spins on the Porsche 356 convertible and just what it should be-------------personally I plan to visit each of them before buying----It should be a fun trip!!!!

Chuck Beck is the guy originally reponsible for the Beck Speedster. I believe he hooked up with Kevin Hines a number of years ago and their collaboration led to an arrangement with Chamonix for manufacture of the Beck bodies and chassis under license. Special Edition is the Hines family business that owns the rights to the Beck, at least in the USA. They import the cars from Brazil and sell them as kits, turnkeys, or through a few dealers scattered around the country. Boulder Speedters was one of these dealers but it is my understanding they lost that privelege due to their poor performance in assembling the cars and their poor customer service, all of which has been discussed on this forum.
