It may appear ok (check for gouges etc.) but pronounced while under load.... cheap to change it and have peace of mind...being sure to properly grease the bearing prior to installing it. ~Alan
And the bearing races that they run in/on. Use quality bearings - either OEM or an name brand. A bearing packer will ensure grease gets to center of bearings although hand packing can work if you take time to ensure it is done completely.
If bearings are burned blue, rusty brown or lumpy (not brown) they are long gone.
