Was trying to surf to end of the internet and came across a Porsche 914 site that said the offset was different on the rims used on the 914's over a regular VW. Apparently the 914 is ET41 which sits deeper and the VW is ET34. (Not sure if stamped in wheel or jsut a spec). Same applies apparently to the 914 Mahles/Perdini/Fuchs wheels. Might be enough different to give little added clearance to rear of many non-flared cars.
