Which suspension layout, swing axle or IRS, allows for the wider or larger tire/wheel size on the pan-based speedsters. A lot of the cars appear to have a more "aggressive" stance with respect to wheel size or tire width. Wondering what the options are(?)Also, someone selling a restored VS said they had put drop spindles up front to attain the look of the original cars. I thought the ride height was fully adjustable as built by Vintage and JPS.

Mike is right on ride quality when using adjusters. Dropped spindle drop the front 2.5" and increase width by .5" too (forget if its total .5 " or .5 each side). That might be too much or too little. My guess is with a single adjuster you have about 1" of adjustment. So the optimum solution would be a combination of both dropped spindles and a pair of beam anjusters. Even on a standard (vs Widebody) car the front is usually not a problem. Its the rear where things get tight. Wide body cars with fender flares tend to give you a few more inches either side.
Intermeccanica with the 911 suspension package.

You asked.......;-)

Look through the pictures and you can see the difference in a full tube custom frame with 911 suspension. A bit more expensive but worth every penny. You don't have to go for the full IM-6 treatment with a 6 cylinder 911 motor but it gives you the option of a 915 5 speed and a T-1, T-4, 912, 1.8T WC 2.0T WC or what ever you can dream up..
