Isn't it amazing how fast these threads deteriorate into something else?! Reading them takes me back to Sociology 101. Great fun! Maybe I should compile the best in a joke book.

OK, now someone tell me the dates for Paso

Also, what do you know about FiberFab Speedsters. I have a chance to pick up a nice one that needs cosmetic work and has a bigger engine. Might be a fun project. Frame looks good, body good, engine needs tuneup and interior is bad, bad, bad ... but I can fix that. Any words of advice?

Dusty
Dusty,

FiberFab was a decent speedster kit (FF sold out to CMC) VS - JPS interiors will fit the FF speedster. Sometimes the course glass is visible under the thin gelcoat especially on the hood.
Door alignment is on some FF, another issue along the rearward door bottoms they tend to stick out 1/8"...if the price is right it's an enjoyable hobby project.

Thanks, Alan, I have decided to purchase the car and see what I can do to make it really nice. The doors fit very good and the body is nice. One small "oops" on the right front fender but nothing major. Rather than a kit interior I will do it myself [just to prove I have SOME small talent ]. My local VW/Porsche mechanic says this motor is considerably stronger than stock and, he says, shows signs of very little time on it. When I drive it I am impressed with how strong it is. I will post pics when it is done. Anyone looking for a nice Speedster a bit lower priced than most keep me in mind. I just want the project ... not another car. I am happy with my Vintage :-)

Drive fast, drive safe, smile big;
Dusty
The question of moving the Paso dates (to miss the rainy season) had been asked and I think Theron's reply was that coinciding our SOC meet with Paso's Chamber of Commerce 'Old Times' event allowed us use of the park for free. Otherwise we'd have to reserve, and rent the park (plus permits & insurance/waivers), however much that costs.

Additional fees, on top of the expense of taking time off from work (especially if you're self-employed), fuel/travel costs, food and lodging might prevent some folks from attending.

To us, the probability of rain adds a sense of 'adventure' to the trip (just pack extra trash bags as Dusty did).
Jim: Why not try to convince Vince to drive his Ghia to Carlisle and share the trip with HIM?

or maybe not..........but I bet it would be an entertaining trip (Vince! Entertain THIS!!)

Dusty: Hope to see you and Miss Sharon at Carlisle again - we all missed you both this year! Maybe you can get a Caravan going with Angela, Jim and Vince (and maybe a few others, too!) YOU know what a great time we all have for several days there, and NEXT year it looks like we might be building a Spyder for Cory......

Esther: Toot on back East with that big 'ol Land Yacht and visit us at Carlisle!!! You'll never regret it!

Now all we have to do is get a group of "enthusiasts" together to go see some of the shows in the UK next year. Now THAT would be fun!
Gordon, I'm such a wimp I couldn't even get up this morning for a putt to the Treffen in Orange County (1 hr each way). All VW (pre-60 for Ghia's). Perfect show for me and I couldn't get up...
Went to the local Oldies station's 35 anniversary concert last night
4 Tops, War, Doobie Brothers and Chicago...got to bed about 1:00AM
many hours past my normal bedtime...
By the way, the average age at the concert had to be 60 years....

Oh, Esther, Nobody has kinder words to say about their wife than me, every time I slap her ass I say, "excuse me"

Gordon, funny you mention that, because we were talking at breakfast this morning of all of the places we would like to visit next year. I tell you this rig is incredibly comfortable and very beautiful inside. We have everything from convection oven to central vac. Of course I have added my decorating touches and Grant hopes I'm done...will see.

Vince, you crack me up! Excuse me this!!!!! LOL.

~Esther
