Keep the engine and transmission and sell the rest.

Save the windshield for me! I can hack that bad boy right back into useful shape. TC, where do you find this stuff?!
(and please, dear God, if you folks think the Hoopty project is headed in a direction even remotely that bad -- let me know sooner, rather than later!)

It's been butchered alright but it looks like a fun project. Start by installing a set of real teardrop tailights. Did you see the 911 in the garage with beehives?.....

It is a targa.

Good eyes Ricardo!
If it weren't a Targa, I'd say that he might have a lightweight 911R Carrera.

And it was worth some real money! Looks like it's just a tail light conversion though.

its a back dated cabriolet in the garage. He also has a turbo charged speedster, and posts here from time to time. Mike's a cool guy. He hangs out in the 914 club and on the Pelican site. Shelby

Sleeping at the switch -- I just got that "trailer" trash comment. Heh, heh.
Wait -- I think I should be offended!

I agree with you TC, those tail-lights on the Carrera (back-dated Cabriolet) are a fiberglass conversion used to further lighten a 911R (by replacing the heavier stock tail-light assemblies). You can still get those from Pelican Parts.

The original 911 tail-light units are about 4lbs each, the 911R units
on that car are closer to 7 ounces each.

Check the auction again, if only for the "questions" section. I didn't realize that it was "Frankenstealth" for sale . . . I used to LOVE this car, I just never caught it in near profile I guess.. I never realized just how "bad" is was, in EVERY sense of the word.
Gotta get my eyes checked, first it turns out to be a full on cabrio, not a targa in the garage. THEN the ugly little 356 turns out to be my former dream car, "Frankenstealth."
"Just read the top line on the chart for me."
"Wha . . what line?" "WHAT CHART ? ! ? !"

Just read the "Questions" portion at the bottom of the auction... I must admit, the guy has a sense of humor!
Where is Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear when you really need them? I would really like to see this one dropped it's nose.
