Just a couple of pics from this morning's caravan from SoCal to Pismo Beach. 17 SOCers heading up Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu Beach was quite the site. More to follow...

Friday morning rendezvous in Malibu Beach. 17 SOC vehicles heading out...

Heading north on Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu Beach...

Friday evening in Pismo, Dale telling Henry..."I think it needs MORE cowbell!"

After a day of driving, its party time Friday evening at Warren & Karen's crib. I hope they have enough booze for this group?

I left on Wednesday after work in an absolute downpour. I was really glad to have a car with a top, I would have needed scuba gear in the spyder. Spent Wednesday night in Corning. I stopped at an auto parts store to pick up an item and a siren went off. It was the weather channel emergency broad coast for a TORNADO - apparently in Marysville, not close enough to cause concern, but dang! A TORNADO! WOW!

On Thursday, by the time I got through Sacramento, the sun was out. I dropped the top in Santa Nella, then headed over Pacheco Pass to Monterey. I intended to take highway 1 the whole way down. Turns out Highway 1 is closed about 60 miles or so south of Monterey which led to the next adventure!

There is a road between Highway 1 and the inland route of Highway 101 called Naciemento Road. I had heard about this road, but I had never driven it before. It is AMAZING! Narrow, steep, twisty, no guard rails - it ROCKS! Can't wait to do it again!

Two pics. One on Highway 1, and one on Naciemento.

By the way, pencilredneck is here, I saw his coupe.

Angela - I wish you would have made it here last night. There were tons of people and we had a good time. Now, if the rain would just hold off for a few hours. I am sorry I didn't mention the Hwy 1 closure, I thought everyone knew about it.

Caffe' - The guy in the peach shirt is my neighbor. He doesn't do Speedies, just drinks and plays golf. He just stopped by, curious about all the Speedies in the street.
I knew about the closure, Warren, and chose to do the route anyway. I figured that the closure would be after one of the "cross-overs" - in this case, the Naciemento Road. Even if there had been no cross over, I would have done it anyway, even if that meant doubling back 60 miles. Highway 1 is worth it.

Didn't know about the get-to-gether last night. I actually didn't get back to the hotel (had a thing to do in Santa Barbara) until just before 8pm.

Dang, it's raining... Not hard, but it's still the wet kind - LOL!
