Yelp; Security is getting to be big problem.

The kit with the keyed pull button, like Henrey has at IM is nice.

(It has the key lock to the side of the interior trunk pull under the dash)

It would be nice if it was on the trunk handle But converting the porsche handle would require losing the crest and a rechrome after the mods.

But Like your Idea better!!!

Try: Cip-I,, West Coast Metric ,, or Interstate Vw Salvage.(used)

If you have to get by with a used one. It also would not hurt to place a ad. at....The Samba.com
Mike, You've committed another non-sequitur.

There are people on this site who love to bash anybody who departs from the absolute replication of the Speedster's design whether it's a safety feature (rear reflectors that reflect the beam of SUV's, or halogen headlights) a security feature (like a locking deck lid) or the fact that you don't have a gas filter and reserve tank valve below your dash.

My point is that exact "replication" requires embracing and including some serious design flaws that were in the original Speedster.

Hoo-Yah, Mike and Bill. I agree 100 percent.
Whatever makes you happy! That's why we've got the replicas, right? 'Cuz we can tinker and fool with 'em?
I'll be using the same kind of bear-claw latch they use on semi-trucks to keep the engine covers secured, but I'll be feeding cables from the dash in the front and the firewall in the rear to pins mounted on my hood and rear deck.
There will be rubber stoppers and steel pins involved, but I'm re-using VW Bug dash pulls for the releases. Those'll be the only visible parts, as they protrude from the sheet metal.
Kind of an ode to recycling. I dunno what I'll do about a lock. I figure if I'm able to put a tranny lock on it, it's going to help prevent someone figuring out the push-button starter, battery key and no-shift-pattern-having shifter and going for a joyride.
