Fellow speedster owner said he was running low on brake fluid. He checked it like most car owners do.  After two years I finally discovered what an unbelievable place for my reservoir. The following is what the manufacturer of my speedster said as far as the location.

“Hey John, listen to your voicemail. You can check the brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir which is right behind the driver side front wheel. It’s connected to the firewall just in front of the brake pedal. Thanks hope this helps..”

I am not pleased with the location, I have seen my reservoir often when I took it to our car club but that’s when on the lift. I obviously a slow learner..

Do anyone have a reservoir in a place where you can’t see it easily?

Most likely, your reservoir is a Volvo derivative which just happens to fit right onto the two ends of the VW master cylinder.  To use the Volvo reservoir, you remove the two fluid input fittings on the master cylinder (they are both press fit into the MC housing with o-rings to seal them) and press the Volvo reservoir right onto the holes where the fittings were - it has it's own o-rings to seal the connection.  What you have is one of these:

And what you want is one of these:

Along with a pair of hoses and one of these:

Theoretically, you could reverse the process and replace those two fittings, if you could find them - I did a quick look and came up with nothing.  If you did that, you would also have to replace the reservoir tank with one for a 1970-ish VW sedan and then you could mount it up in the Frunk and just run a pair of small (1/4"?) hoses to it.

Before I redid my pedals both my M/Cs had integral reservoirs, which made checking/filling my brake fluid a total PITA. When I did the pedals, I stalled this on the bulkhead in front of the beam:

I'm glad I had three separate reservoirs when I high-centered going over a railroad crossing hard enough to cause my brake light sender to leak all the fluid out of my rear circuit.

ps: my car is a Spyder.

Seems to me that the location in the frunk is a very reasonable place to locate it and it seems to have worked fine for more than 3,300 Speedsters built PRIOR to the sale of Vintage SPEEDSTERS and the move to Arizona.  It also seems to be working fine for the cars being built by Vintage Motorcars of California.  The poster, JPC, has a car built by Vintage Speedsters AFTER the company was moved to Arizona.
