I am dropping my engine again in my CMC Speedster C with a 2010cc engine. It runs hot and my current oil cooler location is on the Dog house in front of the circular opening.
I have since been told this is a terrible location for the cooler (after being told it was the best location!!).

Where is a better location???
Also, I do not run a inside doghouse cooler and am told that would also help, but I cannot find the two way fitting that allows both coolers to be used.
All help/opinions are appreciated.

If you mean that you have an external cooler mounted in front of the fan intake, take it off and throw it away. It makes no sense at all to pre-heat the air you want to use to cool the engine.

Buy a stock doghouse cooler and mounting bracket, and gasket that seals the cooler sides in the doghouse bulge (this is an aluminum type 3 oil cooler as used on all of the late type 1 engines). Also buy or make the little "L" shaped piece that seals around the cooler and shroud at the bottom (called the Hoover bit).

If you are paranoid about cooling buy a type 4 cooler and the Gene Berg kit to modify the doghouse shroud for it (aluminum and has more cooling rows).

My 165 to 170 BHP 2,110cc type 1 runs the type 4 cooler, increased fan speed (using a smaller diameter Porsche 356/912 alternator pulley), welded and balanced fan, and has no cooling problems.

My remote oil cooler is front mounted and fan assisted. Works fine on the road and in town. With out the fan, town driving overheats the eng. I have been warned away from adding the external oil cooler off of the oil pump after market oilfilter attachment.
A dog house oil cooler gets the built-in cooling whether at road speed or at idle. Funny how that works. But I wont change yet, still trying to scavange some waste heat from the oil to heat the interior. Moderate success on short intown drives. It blasts after 30 min of highway driving.
