Any tire store? Any junk yard? I got mine at a tire store. It's a great item because it fits so well leaving room for other stuff.

I bought one new last week. I don't trust an oven baked in trunk tire that's a few years old. Plus I couldn't find the really narrow one used...
I got one from a honda supplier from a 96-01 Civic, never been used and I think it was about $20.
Ya I called around the junkyards and this may be a tad more difficult to find. Good to know a Civic tire works also.
OK, I'm lazy I admit it. Is the civic Rim the exact same lug pattern.

do you have 4 lug (4x408 IIRC) or wide 5 (5x205)?
it doesnt need to be a civic - you just need a space saver 15"
TONS of cars have them. i guarentee any wrecker will have one if they have domestic cars. mine is from a dodge.
grab a 4 or 4.5" vw rim, slap on the 125/70(ish)/15 space saver and your done. you don't need to get it balanced either.

I have never had much luck at tire stores or locally. I have purchased about three space saver spares on eBay. Most sellers give good technical specs. The spares arrived at the house quickly.

I have a bunch of extra 4 on 130 steel wheels, come by and pick one up (free). Also if anyone else wants a 4 on 130 wheel I have about a dozen of them. Then run by the junk yards here in Otey and pick up a space saver 15 wheel and tire and have the tire swapped over. Unless you want to use a 165 which a few of these steel wheels already have on them.

Gary - finding and running just one adapter is much more work/$ that Kevin and i are talking about. your call though.
I think that Jettas use the 4x108 patter so there should be plenty of them, if I think right.
