A friend of mine has a sand rail with a 1600 DP. The carb is shot, and it has a 32-36 Weber progressive on it. So replace it with the same, or get a new center section for the manifold and a different carb? The throttle shaft is shot. It has a dual exhaust, the typical buggy one, personally not my favorite, but it is on there.
Glad to see this topic posted,, as I am about to upgrade from a stock 1600dp myself. My current plan was to order the new 34mm Pict-3 carb, and a vacuum/centrifical SVDA distributor. Should pull through the torque curve a little smoother, by reducing the flat spot. Economy should improve and reliability maintained. I was wondering if there is a better performing manifold that I should consider,, as the stock manifold looks kind of restrictive ?? Oh yes,, I was going to include the compu-fire ignition module and coil as well.
Opinions appreciated,, as always !

The linkage comes with ball joint ends. The sockets that accept the ball joints use a cheesy spring clip to retain the connection. With in the first 100 miles or so they would lose thier "springyness" and pop off, instant drop to idle. At first I thought the throttle cable broke (or worse). I used some safety wire to secure them but a better fix would be to use something like this...

Also a better throttle cable connection would be desireable.
