Which carb to replace Solex

Which carb should I replace my Solex carbs with. Can't seem to adjust these Dual carbs. I was looking a Dual Weber 40s. Are these easy to install and sync/jet

Before you replace the carbs, replace the linkage . . . it's notoriously bad. Most/all of the usual suspects sell the up-graded linkage. It make a HUGE difference!

Good suggestion by TC; I assume you have Solex/Kadrons. They're good but Weber/Dellorto dual throats are more tuneable and offer better performance.

TC might be correct(again???)

What size engine do you have? Webers are cool but you might not need that much carburation.

Once upon a time I made the mistake of dumping my kads for webers of the same size. Net results: a large amount of $$$$ gone and pretty much no performance improvement. Get after that linkage 1st.
PS. I know I'm not the only one that has gone down this road.

Not the quickest guys around, but the most knowledgeable by far. Worth the wait for delivery.

With your engine, I wound not spend the money on Webers. I dont think you will notice any HP gains.

Get the Kads jetted correctly, linkage sorted and both pulling the same and you will be fine.

Those V-stacks for the Kardons look sweet! What's the down side of putting those on?

Do you have any input on those Velocity stacks? I think they look cool but I don't know if they are a good idea for my car as I tend to drive it all the time and occasionally get caught in the rain.

Supposedly they are intended to fit inside the EMPI air filter units. I did have them in my car for some time; the only thing is that yes, they'll fit inside the air filter units but you're unable to screw them to the carb because the self threading screws that come with them are supposed to screw to the carb body in the exact area where the air cleaner units intersect with the carb bodies; I just had them "friction fitted" in place.

We run AJ's stacks on the KADS that he set-up for one of our drag motors. Supposedly the KADRONS respond very well to velocity stacks because the intake horns are so short on the carbs as they come from the factory.

With the velocity stack attached, the Kadron, being a single throat carb, now gets a decent chance for the air to stack up before being drawn through.

In theory . . .

With the drag motor and those carbs and stacks, we DID manage our first wheel stand (small . . . but it did happen and it was a full steel bodied VW!)

Run them in place of air cleaners, get some of that fine weave brass screen to wrap over the tops, secure it with a seven strand stripped piece of brass/copper electric chord wrapped around the base twice and twisted tight. You'll be lookin' REALLY sweet and SO vintage that I'll just HAVE to copy you, 'cause it'll just be that PISSA ! ! ! !

Thanks TC and Ricardo. I was talking to Cory the other day and he scared the crap out of me with talk of unexpended fuel igniting in my engine bay and blowing the entire back half of my car off! (OK, it wasn't that dramatic but that's how I heard it) Is there any downside to having them on the carbs?
