Based on my experience, take a look at Vintage Speed's (taiwan) shifters too.

I've just ditched the CSP shifter in my '64 bus for a Vintage Speed one after the CSP one needed its polythene base tightening after a thousands miles, leaving the cup sloppy and loosing me 2nd gear. Tigtening the 4 bolts wouldn't be a big deal if you didn't have to remove the shifter to do it each time...

The vintage one uses a metal ball in a metal cup and even comes with a grease nipple to fit to regrease that cup come service time.

I plan to fit a black mamba shifter in my speedster (goes with my outlaw look) this winter to upgrade my EMPI one when they build the next batch (Dec).

Just my 10 cents worth but perhaps this is the exception that proves the rule that German is always best.

CSP is my choice--like Lane, I like the bent shaft and the shorter one

Hard lesson I had that I'll share---if you do go with the CSP one, trim the carpet so that the metal base plate sits directly on the metal top of the tunnel. If you leave any carpet between the plate and the tunnel, you will never get it adjusted.
