I live im The Netherlands and it is not easy from here to decide which Speedster replica is the best (Vintage, Chesill, etc.) I probably have to buy a kit without having seen a build-up Speedster of this manufacturer irl.
Can anyone inform me about the best kit? which one is the most authentic, the best quality, best service, best price, etc.?

You should spend a lot of time reading old forumw posts like the one above. This question has been asked and answered a million times. You can also click on the "makers" tab at the top of the page to learn a little bit about each of them. Mainly.....read, read, read.
John, especially for you, because your not in an area that most members are familiar with you will need to figure out what the costs of the kit to your door are going to be? I just don't think most members will be able to help you with such specific information?

You need to email Alan Merklin direct and see if he can help you out on the quality issues and what to expect of a Streetbeasts Kit. He has recently received one and is building one, and he also has the background and experience with these cars to give you good detailed information.

Vintage also provides a kit and as it sounds, you are aware that Chesil may be a viable option for you? The one difference you will find in the Vintage versus the Streetbeasts that I know of is the Streetbeasts has a tube frame, which may or may not be to your advantage depending on your needs for registering the car?
John it would seem t me that a lot of info could be gotten from the OK sister SOC site which will be more Euro centric for research.
It would also be the like target to pick up a model in Europe.
That being said I reserched the manufactureres via this site.
There are far more knowledgable people on this site to help you further than I.
Bon chance
I was afraid to get these kind of answers. Apparently it's not mathematical. But thanks anyway.
After an afternoon of reading I discovered that several kits are not based on a VW beetle. For registering in Holland it's vital that the kit is based on old VW chassis, which is already registered here in Holland. This rules out several manufacturers.
Since I find it a waste not to use your basic knowledge: I know Chesil and L&B are Beetle-based. These two are available in Europe (Belgium and UK). But I am sure in the US there are more Beetle based Speedsters but it is difficult for me to know the differences. Can anyone -for starters- give me shortlist of those beetle based kit manufacturers?
You're welcome for all the effort!

Isn't there a builder in the Netherlands? Too bad you couldn't look at PGO from France they are tube based, but what a car!! Maybe you can though? They seem to have a dealer in the Netherlands, Marcel Haarselhorst Auto Import, +31, 161 492 941 you can check their dealers at pgo.fr and click on reseau.

These cars are gorgeous check out the Belgian dealer here, http://www.tonino.be/

The cars are a ployester resin body, gorgeous lines, fitment is unbelievable and it seems they won the lawsuit against Porsche. 215 35 18 tires and 0-100 Kms in 6.5 seconds. YAHOOO

Dit is de auto u wenst.

Hi! I've almost the same problem as John does, because I would like to self-built a speedster and I'm trying to find a Kit maker in Brazil or Argentina based on the VW Beatle and can't find one. All I found was two TurnKey Makers (Chamonix=Beck and Replicar)and is realy hard to find information about this replicas. Does someone has any usefull information to share with me. Obiously I can't buy a Kit from The UK or the US because change rates.
Thank you.

For John: John try WWW.chamonix.com.br its seams that they are the same as Beck and the turnKey speedster is think is around US$ 14.300
