Our wonderful son reserved a room for Kathy and I at the Cambria Pines Lodge to celebrate our 43rd anniversary, what a kid!
We packed up White Cloud this morning and headed over Hwy 46 to Santa Rosa Creek Road, the 14 mile back-road to Cambria.

Be careful about your navigation, Will.
If you make a wrong turn, you could get stuck having to drive miles up the coast road before being able to turn around, with nothing to look at but those damned green hills on the one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other.
HaPpY AnNiVeRsArY, Will & Kathy! What a great way to celebrate your anniversary! What a great son to make the hotel arrangements!
Here's wishing you two lovebirds many more years of love & happiness!

Don't do anything I wouldn't do...
Will....Congratulations ! Cambria Pines Lodge.....That place is almost a religious memory for me. My wife (at that time) and I were staying there. (1970) We were in the restaurant at that time and I overheard the people in the next booth talking about Robert Rousseau, a French Philosopher whom Thomas Jefferson had great respect for, and was instrumental and influential in Jefferson's education (along with John Locke) and eventual opinions of the foundations of a Democratic Society. It wasn't what they were talking about but that I totally understood what they were talking about ! THAT, my friend, is when I became aware of what an education is ! I was going to night school at that time and struggling to get good grades to keep the GI Bill money coming in (for my first Yamaha Motorcycle) but I hadn't realized , until that moment, that there is a higher value to getting an education than a Motorcycle. I actually understood what they were talking about. That made me want more.......Just thought I'd share that with you. I haven't previously had the opportunity to tell that story but it certainly happened there.....at Cambria Pines Lodge..........................Bruce
That's one of the many things I enjoy about this forum, the obvious education most of you have. Some of you write so well, expressing yourselves so eloquently..... very impressive. (And loving the little cars we all have)
...it's funny how this life weaves us together, so much we have to offer each other and to think, we all come together on this forum because of some fiberglass and metal.
Kathy and I had so many smiles and comments these past couple days on the coast. Folks would come up to us and start a conversation based on the nostalgia our little car produces. They'd talk about being young and when they owned one, or how a friend had one, they all wanted to know what year it was, and every single one was smiling as we talked, amazing how a little car can do such mighty things.
Everybody likes them, pretty much. There are a few cars like that. All of them old, most of them pretty modest. There is magic in it.
