Yep, my builder sent me these two photos yesterday.

Looking good! What displacement are you going with?
Excellent. Glenn Ring 010?
I posted the photos on my way out the door to work at our church's Vacation Bible School, I didn't have time for specifics then (18-3 year olds clamoring for Big Will).
Jethro, 2110 like before, using same crank, rods, pistons and liners.
Stan, that's the same .019 I had Glenn rebuild for the previous engine.
My builder used a magnesium case with case savers. A CB cam and lifters, Panchito heads cc'c to 9:1 comp ratio. OEM brass distributor drive gear and drive-shaft. OEM valve covers. Matched intake manifolds to the Panchito intake ports and guess what...this engine's balanced.
Though Powerhaus VW Parts (Torrance, CA) charged me for balancing, the engine was not balanced, this time it is.
Still working on some breather hoses and a couple other details but I'm hoping to be back on the road in 2 weeks...or so...

Will when you got the engine up around 4K RPMs could you feel any vibration or any indication the internals weren't balanced?
"A CB cam and lifters"
Will- I need to know details (you'd think the guy would know by now)- what cam? regular or lightweight lifters? do you know the deck height? combustion chamber cc's? did your guy mention how far out piston and rod weights were?
Beautiful! Glad to see everything coming along, Will!
Will,
Good choices all around. I think this one will be "just right".
Rusty, I shifted at 4500 and it seemed fine but then, I'm a hack, not Mario Andretti
Al, I don't know which cam, stock ratio rockers and CB lightweight lifters
Stan, I think so too (but a Subie Beck is the contingency plan) if not
That's not a bad contingency plan.
Waiting patiently to hear (read, actually, but you know...) you yell the words
It's Alive!
And ask your builder which cam is in the engine; it's good to know these things later...
PS- also what the deck height is?
Wills new cam is a CB #2242, 248 degrees of duration @.050 lift, .429 lift @valve using stock ratio rocker arms. Lifters are CB #1537 light weight lifters. Deck height is set to .045 and the combustion chambers are 61cc. Compression is 8.7-1. Push rods were replaced with the CB heavy duty aluminum for reduced valve train noise. Heads are the Los Panchito with CNC reshaped combustion chambers, engine case is a new AS41 OEM magnesium case and 8mm chromoly head studs. Crank gear hardware is all OEM VW. I offered some assistance getting the engine back together along with Wills help. The end goal is a cool running reliable engine that allows Will to finally enjoy his car.
Well.....If THAT post doesn't make @ALB Al Blanchette happy, I don't know what will!
Thanks, Pat!
With all that, I'm gonna havta start calling Will, MR. Hesch!!

Hear, hear! If I have my car back together I shall go too.
This is where I get to say: Thank you Pat, for stepping in and building the engine Whitecloud deserved all along. I really am humbled by your help and your wealth of knowledge and experience.
See you Saturday. (he's even delivering the engine, a 120 mile (one way) drive, how often have you heard of that happening?).
You better have beer ready when he arrives.......Maybe a nice, juicy, NY Sirloin, too!

Thanks for taking the time to fill in the blanks, Pat. Will, I think you're really going to like this one...

If I had a car, I would go too. This is all good news.
Pat, you're a good man! Most builders would be laughing as they turn and walked away from this situation...And Will is one lucky customer!
