Installed Whitecloud's new shoes this morning (Vintage 190's 4.5")

her old shoes (VS 5.5 steel 8 hole) and tires weighed 33 lbs 12 oz

the new shoes and old tires weigh 27 lbs so she shed 6 lbs 12 oz per wheel/tire

here she is as the girl who was always smoking in the bathroom (I like)

and here she is, the girl you took to the prom (Kathy likes)

I'm sure I don't have to tell you who won that one...

Al, the 165/15's fit just fine on a 4.5 rim and since that was (one of) the stock Porsche size rims and since they'd be lighter than the 5.5's, it just made sense to go that way.

I have to add that I'm very impressed with the quality of the Vintage 190's. The guys didn't even need weights on the wheels/tires, they were that balanced.

The castings are impeccable. I chose the polished for the vintage/stock look and the hubcap clips held on the rims with stainless panhead/allen bolts into perfectly threaded holes, cad-plated round-nose lug nuts, lug bolts that easily installed using the supplied allen wrench, these wheels are as nice (and light) as Technomagnesio except I can purchase a set of 4 190's for the price of one Techno.

Whitecloud told me she feels like the prom queen wearing these shoes.

Will, very nice look. What do you have on the back- drum brakes and on the front disk?

I could be wrong, but they look like type 1 drums on the back, Michael.

And Will- to solve your dilemna, pop the hubcaps off when you're out by yourself and put them back on when the wife is in the car.

They look great Will!  Leave the caps at home.  I put a set of 190s in silver on last year and really like them. I see from your avatar you play guitar. I started trying to play last year and I have progressed from horrible to terrible.  I just seems impossible at times and I have a lot of respect for those who can actually make music with one of the damn things. After 7 months I just seem to be at a standstill but haven't given up yet. Congrats to you.

Terry, sorry I missed you guys, would've been fun. I had the wheels on in time but Kathy wasn't feeling up to going anywhere so I stayed home with her.

Frank, I've been playing for 50 years but plateau'd about 49 years ago. I do lead worship at our church and have played in a few bands down through the years. Playing an instrument is like working on these cars, the more you do it, the better you get.

I'll tell you: back in the early 50s, when our BELOVED DR. FERDINAND decided to flip his bathtub over AND put wheels on it, the BABY BOOM TESTOSTERONE crowd has fallen in love with the ageless design. FUCHS did NOT appear until the early 60s so MOONS bring back the true "milkshake at the diner 50s"........NOT FUCHS. When I see a speedster with FUCHS, its like seeing ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL on a cell phone....cant happen, never did, and wont!!!

So us "MOONIES" remain true to the historical ambiance and charm of the good Dr.F and ALL THAT IT IMPLIES......just sayin

What is with you guys loving the moons?

Anybody, with a modicum of good taste would immediately see that the wheel without the moons looks better.

I really like these wheels.  I wish they came in a wider range of widths.

By the way, those wheels are available in WIDER WIDTHS or can be made WIDER by a number of wheel techs: CODDINGTON, amongst others....anything that can be paid for, can be made available....
