Richard - all kidding aside, I'm sure your engine will be fine, and hopefully soon, you'll be putting some highway miles on your Speedster instead of sitting in front of your computer reading wise-cracks from maroons like me!

Thomas, G. Serrano is a VW parts shop located in Torrance California. They offer good stuff at great prices. They also offer longblocks and turnkey engines. They advertise on The Samba.com. I've bought from them a couple of times and they offer quality parts and prices but sometimes they're out of stock and delivery times become uncertain at that point. If in a hurry for the parts/engine it's wise to check if they're in stock first.
