I am trying to figure out which brand speedster kit I have here. We have had this car in the family for about 20 years...it was purchased second hand. As you can see it has been neglected for quite some time.
I would like to order parts from the right vendor... are there any specific details anyone can point out to me to see which manufacturer build the kit?

Is that rust on the front fender?! No, I see the park brake is on the tunnel. I’m no expert, but I’d guess CMC.

FF/CMC and early IMs used a cast alloy rear engine grille - it looks to be cast.
Early IMs used 914 gauges - FF/CMC sold VINTAGE or replica 356 gauges - but builder could have used 914 too.
Those aren't FF/CMC seats or CMC side curtains - look to be VS pieces.
Believe IM used the modified VW aluminum side trim spears - CMC used stick on.
IMs used a sticky 2x3" silver id sticker in passenger's door frame but easily removed.
CMC use a CLASSIC SPEEDSTER crest in front hood handle - but often changed to a PORSCHE one.
Looks like passenger's door is missing? What other parts? - as many are reproduction and not vendor specific.
Appears to be a CMC which may have had some finish work done by Vintage.
Gauges, seats, wheel all scream vintage...Vintage. The Hibachi screams CMC/Fiberfab.
Hard to be 100% sure. Not to worry... You can order parts from several vendors. All come from pretty much the same source.

It doesn't have any ID stickers, and all crests are/changed to Porsche...
I do have the passenger door (took it off for some fiberglass work) The car needs a new top, carpets, seats, side curtains, front window, wiring harness...etc.
One detail I notice my car does not have is one of these round access holes for the car jack
VS is nearby in Hawaiian Gardens, CA - they have a price list located here on SOC. All their parts will fit with a little fiddling.

I should have mentioned that early IMs has INTERMECANNICA cast into the F&R aluminum hood and engine lid hinges
Appears to be either a CMC or FF with Vintage Speedsters seats and door top rails...more detailed photos including foot well, engine bay and I should be able to figure it out the Mfg. for you.

ALB posted:@jraken- That hole is not a jacking point, Jan, but for torsion bar removal/adjustment, and is not usually found on fiberglass replicas. Al (desperately trying to prove he's not chopped liver, or fiberglass... or anything like that!)
And its fake - just a hole saw mark in the fiberglass. Nice touch to replica OEM but not useful.
The fake hole was first done by JPS with a hole saw then filling in the drill bit pilot hole
BTW when my mother made liver and onions I sat at the table well past 8pm and I finally won the liver vs. Alan battle.
Loved the smell of liver and onions but hated the taste and texture...One bite as a kid and I was done!

My opinion? Man was not meant to eat anything called offal "organ meat" including liver, kidney or heart.
I feel the same about eating tongue (which can be tasty) and brains, what about eyeballs ....

As a kid I found that ketchup made the liver palatable. I’ve always liked onions so that wasn’t a problem. I don’t eat liver now but I still remember the taste and texture.
My father was a young ranch hand and used to tell me about the days/nights they sat around the camp fire and enjoyed eating the "Rocky Mountain Oysters"...No thanks!

My stepmother used to bread liver in wheat germ before frying; with onions and ketchup it was quite good.

There is no amount of Ketchup, Mayo, BBQ sauce or Hot Sauce that will ever get me to eat Liver.
But then, I think I once said something like that about Brussels Sprouts and have grown to actually like them.
That ain't gonna happen with Liver, THAT's for sure!
And now back to our regularly scheduled movie, " Zorro " ...staring John Wayne.
Think of what the liver does. It filters out all the bad stuff that you don’t want in your body. Eating liver is eating all the concentrated bad stuff the donor animal didn’t want in its body. No thanks! And remember, Hannibal Lector was a mad man.
That's why I don't eat liver anymore Lane. But I used to, with fried onions...mmm.
And why I only buy meat from animals that are raised naturally.
It could be an early IM. Check the rear deck lid hinges to see if one of them has Intermeccanica stamped on it.
If not, probably a CMC/FF

From what I can see, that car looks a lot like mine, which I've always thought is an older VS. Dash, seats, side molding, etc. No plates or markings anywhere.
When placed in an "eat it or go hungry" situation I found that I actually liked liver and onions. And we grew bussels sprouts for the first time the year. We use Stan's recipe and I like those too. Only one plant and it's still cranking 'em out into Nov.
Speaking of offal, I was in Scotland earlier in the year and was pretty sure I didn't want to eat haggis after reading the ingredients. But, I tried it and it actually was pretty good.
Still hoping JRAKEN finds the hinges have Intermechannica on them - that would end the debate and I can go ahead and eat my tripe soup.
