Hey all, I recently purchased a 356 Replica, built on 1969 VW. I'm the third owner. The second owner didn't get much in the way of build details and passed on what they could. What I'm primarily trying to determine is who manufactured the body.

I've posted some pics below in the hopes that one of you may be able to see something I'm not seeing. If there is something specific you want to see a picture of lemme know. Thanks everybody! IMG_4266IMG_426361817536503__7EC54337-1B48-48CC-9232-6DE4AAABD250IMG_4248

It´s like mine

I have to mount the front trunk rubber seal, did you glue it or use any mask tape to fit the rubber seal in position ?

Thanks

I'd bet @MusbJim left arm that it's a CMC.  There are a bunch of telltale signs: the rear engine grill, the license plate light, the door striker end plates, etc.  It does look like someone took some pride/care in assembling it.  If it were a Vintage it most likely wouldn't have that dash pad; the squared off license plate light, or the monza exhaust.

There are a few things like the side trim and the rear torsion bar access hole which are nice additions.

I'm also surprised to see the heater knob on a car titled as a '69.

Congratulations!  little bit of room there to really make it your own.

HA, I have extra one too (in NW FL) !  My engine is a 1641 cc with one on it.  Both are NOS still with the yellow paint in the 4 chrome tips and the crinkle black paint.  Mine just touched the rear roll pan so I heated the pipe to each dual tip and bent the down just a bit for clearance.

CMC sent me two - I guess to make up for other parts they shorted me.  They wanted me to send it back on my dime.

I remember those Monzas; they actually had plastic yellow rings instead of paint on the tailpipes originally. Imagine that! That was in the early '80's. I know because I had one in my '69 Ghia back then.

Greg :  I have that same floor jack.  I think I bought it in 1974.  It just keeps on working and working.

LOL.  Little did we known back when we bought them, that a floor jack was a lifetime purchase. I had a little cheapie for a while, but I bought a nice aluminum Craftsman when I bought my first BMW 2002 back in 80-81 or so.  It's followed me to 4 states, 7 residences, and about 10 cars.

I bought a low profile Harbor Freight aluminum jack when I was autocrossing so I could change out my tires before I raced. It lasted 5 seasons and then the wheels fell off (airport runways and mall parking lots are pretty rough). Believe it or not, Harbor Freight sent me a replacement...
