Not so fast Cowboy!! I sent the 24 names to Carlisle last night to confirm and today they assured me that we only have TWENTY-TWO cars registered with our group. Guys, Guys, Guys the instructions at speedsterseast.home.att.net say you MUST specify your club as "Speedsterowners.com" otherwise Carlisle DOES NOT include you in the count!! BUT good news, providing Bryant Irish registered as "Speedsterowners.com", we are back up to TWENTY-THREE and only need two more registrations. That's okay, the more the merrier.

I am going to work on Carlisle to reconsider the two missing names but in the interim - we need two more for a tent. And don't forget -your club must be specified as "Speedsterowners.com"!

And WELCOME to Bryant Irish - I know who you are and we're anxious to see your beautiful IM at Carlisle. Hey Gordon, he's coming from New Hampshire, maybe another caravan candidate?
Bruce... I am trying to see if I can make this trip... I want to make sure that the hotel is available first....I hope another attendee helps.. I am a bit concerned as most people seem to be registered as couples, but I don't think my wife will make the 650 mile plus trip...is this a problem?
Robert,

If you're concerned there might not be available rooms, Alan posted above that there are still some available - just go here and follow the instructions:

speedsterseast.home.att.net/stayover.htm

If you are looking for someone to split a room then let us know here and we'll see if someone pipes up and offers to split.

If you have any hotel-related questions, try contacting Alan Merklin off-line at drclock@comcast.net because he know who is coming from NJRC too.

Alan,

You just listed the SO.com people who are reserved for Friday and Saturday night dinners, right? I believe you have the 2 speakers and NJRC people coming too. Could you post the totals?

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

Called the Carlisle Hotel yesterday to check on the balance of rooms available.

Connie the group sales Rep, there are 15 out of the 40 room block available (this is a combined total to date of the SOC and the NJ Replicar Club)
Don't wait till it's too late to reserve your rooms directly with the hotl ....

The room block gets released after April 20th!

Bill and Bruce, thanks for the information...don't worry about the room... I wouldn't even make my worst enemy share a room with me...I snore like no tomorrow...I was just wondering if most of the attendees were coming as couples....I didn't want to be a lone wheel, third wheel, etc...
Robert,

Don't worry about coming solo! But, you've got to have a buddy or family member you know who might enjoy good food, cold beer, bitchin' cars and most importantly friendly people.

My brother, who didn't really know anything about Speedsters, came with me last year and had such a good time he's coming back with me this year.

Jerome
Bob: Last year we all went to the Saturday evening dinner, hosted by the NJ RepliCar Club - a really nice bunch of folks. Just before dinner started (during the "happy hour") my son and I were standing near a couple of the wives from that club and overheard one of them say to the other:

"I can't get over this......none of these people have ever met before, and it's like going to one of the best family reunions I've ever been to!!"

That about summs up BOTH Knott's and Carlisle.

Come join us.......it'll be like family, only better!!

Gordon and Chris Nichols
The "Five Cent Racing Guys" from Rhode Island and Massachusetts
One more name on the list - Glenn Noble from Maryland in his "Best Paint" award winning JPS. His Speedster will also be on display again this year at the JPS Motorsports booth.

Glenn is #26 on our list BUT Carlisle has only received 24 of them, sooooo we need one more person to register to make our goal of 25 before April 21st. Let's go guys, 12 more days to go!
Another addition to the list - Bill Pickering and his son from New Hampshire! By my count that's the 25 (actually 27) we need for the tent to be pitched at Carlisle! PLUS the Speedsters coming that are registered wirh the NJRC.

Bill is interested in caravan-ing from New England and arriving on Friday so if you're interested in joining him, send him an email and let him know (his email address is in the registry).

Okay guys, don't stop now, keep 'em coming. Just in pure numbers we shamed the Cobras and all the other replicas at Carlisle 2004 and we're going to do it again this year. Send a message - Speedster replicas are out here, inforce!

That's great, Robert! We're looking forward to you joining us.

I also received an email today from Tony Asiago - he is registered and bringing his custom Speedster back to Carlisle this year. So two more names added to the list at the top of this thraead.

I have a gut feeling we're heading for a record turnout again this year! In fact - commemorative, frameable certificates will be given to EVERYONE who registers with Carlisle before May 20th and brings their Speedster!
Done - registered yesterday for the hotel and the event.

I may be alone, but my wife and or son may come with, so i guess I should get put down for 2 for the dinners. I don't know if I will get there before Friday, but my hotel reservation is for Friday and Saturday night.

I expect that I will be driving the car unless the wife and or son join me, then I guess the Speedster becomes a trailer queen, or we bring two cars.

I really look forward to matching names to faces and cars.

Too bad Mike C isn't coming , seems like Mike is a "wild and crazy guy".
Wild and Crazy? You know about the 3 wise men bringing, something, frankenscence and Mirr....what ever that is. I bring 3 Quebec strippers. (and some know what I'm talking about here)

But alas this year I will miss out. It pains me to think that I will not be attending. It is a great event, the cars are ALL awesome. Yeah that's right in a field of beauty we look at ours and we all say awwww you are gorgeous. It's a great time to look and ask and take pictures of cars for your tweaking projects.

I will miss it and will need to live through the comments and pics this year. If only I had the stamina for the 3 strippers?

If we register 25 Speedster owners for Carlisle by APRIL 21st they will once again erect - free of charge - a large tent in our gathering area on the show field. The tent is great for getting out of the sun (it's not going to rain!) and meet with the other members. It's also a super place to put stuff during the day and just relax.

Registration is still CHEAP: $15 (increases to $20 AFTER April 30th) for the whole weekend.

The procedures for registering can be found here:

speedsterseast.home.att.net/register.htm

PLEASE don't forget to register your club as "Speedsterowners.com" - if you don't or if you abbreviate/misspell it we will not get credit!

Email me when you register and I'll add you to this list.
So far, I've been notified of the following registrations:
1. Bruce Stumpp - Maryland
2. Steve O'Brien - Iowa
3. Bill Drayer - Pennsylvania
4. John Hallstrand - Tennessee

6. Lewis Martin - Pennsylvania

34. Dave Kumpf - Pennsylvania

Last year we squeaked by with 25 cars registered and 45 showed so a heads-up would be appreciated.

BTW, we have several Speedsters/owners joining us from the New Jersey Replicar Club (NJRC) too. They register with the NJRC club so it doesn't help getting the 25 registrations for the tent but we'll start a list here so you know who's coming:

1. Alan Merklin - Pennsylvana
2. Rocky Cimbria - Pennsylvania
3. Jerry White
4. Who else is coming ???

THANKS!
