right seater has better things to do, so I may be flying solo
SoCal SOC Cruise;
When: 10:00 AM, Saturday, Jan 28th
Where: Rendezvous at Topanga Ranch Motel (just north of intersection PCH/Topanga Canyon). Please arrive with a FULL tank of gas!
NOTE: Musbjim & Robert 'Bobsled' will meet 08:30 at CVS in Seal Beach. Anyone else? Leaving CVS parking lot @ 09:00 heading to Malibu.
Assembled group will be leaving Topanga Ranch Motel parking lot @ 10:15-10:30
Route : Topanga Canyon/Tuna Canyon (insert wisecrack here)/Mulholland/Rock Store/Home
I pre-ran this route this morning and the roads are in good shape. There are no easy options for food stops (ease of access for our group size, parking, beach crowd, Rock Store crowd). I suggest packing a picnic lunch and we will find a spot to stop.
Approximate Trip Time: Most SOCers should easily make it home by 3:00 PM.
Peace - Out!

Thanks, Jim, for planning this out.
Also, I am bringing a really cool old suitcase that would look great on a luggage rack. It is free for the taking! Let me know if you are interested.

I'll have my young co-pilot.You need to start them young
For lunch, if we are back on PCH in Malibu around noon, we can stop by at the taco place at the Malibu Country Mart (I think that is the name of the place) or close by Pepperdine, there are some places to eat.

See ya in the AM!
Gerd - We'll stick to a canyon cruise this time around and stay around the Agoura/Malibu hills. We can change it up on the next cruise.
Eddy - you're thinking of Howdy's in the Malibu Market. I drove through there today and parking was scarce (single open spots here & there). On a (sunny) weekend in that area, it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to find decent parking for 10 cars and our group of 10-14 people, ordering, seating, eating would easily take 1.5-1.75hrs
Jim - glad to hear you & Kathy will join us . it will be a good day of hanging with the SOCers!
Forecast calls for clear skies and mid-70s temps!
See you all in the morning!

Although I'm currently enjoying the weather in Florida, I would rather be there. Have fun!

Glad everyone had a good time. How could we NOT? Awesome weather, great crowd (10 cars) and the usual shenanigans. I'll post a video in a couple of days when I finish putting it together!
Peace - Out!

How did you guys fair with all that wind?
How did you guys fair with all that wind?
We just told David to lay off the chili dogs and beer that day!
Problem solved!
Problem solved!
Of course we also had a high fire warning too! Warren, the wind was a minor factor .. but it almost blew Vince off the side of a cliff... I won't tell you what he was doing off the side of the cliff.. needless to say.. I almost had a wide body tub...
Trying to piss ....
draining his bag..
He got a headache trying to convince everyone its cool to wear a Michael Jackson glove? Thats my guess.
Here's the link for the pictures that day going down the "snake"

Eddy, Who is the guy with the goggles and the IV bag hanging from the rear view mirror? Does he have a pressure relief valve on that setup? [;-)
The cars look great in those pics. I had already driven by the photog's position by the time he got his camera ready to shoot.
Still working on the video. I'll post it on a new thread when finished.

Looks like when he gets out of the car he tucks the bag up under his hat.
Pretty trick move, if you ask me.
Hey, MUSB!
EVERY car at the Rolex had a GoPro camera in it. We even saw a few team golf carts running around with GoPros on them, not to mention an occasional scooter. The footage from those carts whipping through the crowds - especially around the various scantily-clad race cuties - was probably more exciting than anything on the track.

Nice to see the Speedsters being chased by a Fiat 500
And Wassup with the Fire Truck?

The goggles are probably to keep the piss out of his eyes while driving. Just a guess.
