As for me, I was brought up in the days of old Fords and Chevies. My first car was a 1931 Model A Roadster which had all the negatives mentioned above, and MORE. No windows, gas smells all the time, mechanical brakes, top speed of 45 mph, rockemsockem ride, squirrely handling, double-clutch shifting, no cabin heater at all, no radio, no disc player, no air condition, little trunk space, headlights that barely worked, and a lot of constant vibration. It may sound strange, but I really miss that car.

The speedster is a dream car in comparison. So what if you have to do valve adjustments and fiddle with the Webers once in a while. That's part of the mystique and fun.

Some people just wouldn't understand.

My 16 yo daughter calls my Speedster a seat with a motor. You know, that's about it. But you know what. I love it. It cost me nothing to own, drive and maintain. It is relaible. Honestly I caan sense when something is going wrong. And, it's always an easy repair. He 05 BMW 325Ci convertible had a spontaneous side airbag deployment. Warranty, you gotta be kidding. They swear it never happens. $3500 later/lighter, it's fixed. Sweet car, but expensive. By the way, at least they are both convertibles, and both of german origin.
Funny that we start talking about spouses and how they affect the selling of a speedster.

My wife is almost 7 months pregnant with our first and what did Gary go and do, ...........he goes out and buys a speedster.

We've been together for almost 7 years and married for almost 2. Ever since she's known me, all she's heard is this car that her husband wanted, when I had the car delivered about 2 weeks ago, she didn't want to go for a drive with me, but Sunday was a good day and just as the sun was going down, we hit the road. Short 1/2 hour drive and she was grinning from ear to ear. She complained a bit that she sits so low and getting in and out was a bitch in her condition, but now she wants to drive it..........

Exception to the rule maybe???
Gary,
You normally hear of people selling their cars when the little ones are on the way. I bought mine when my second one was 5 months old. My wife isn't that terribly interested in my speedster but both my little girls (3 and 1 1/2) LOVE it! We were out yesterday washing it in the driveway, my 3 year old doesn't want to get out of it, she is her fathers daughter after all.
