For the amount of money I've spent on my IM I could have bought a newer Porsche Boxster S.  Really!

But then what?

I love to tinker, but I doubt there is much to tinker with in a newer Boxster.

In 1990 I bought a new Nissan 300 ZX.  This was an awesome car.  It looked great, handled well, and had plenty of power.  I sold the car after owning it for less than three years.

Why?

I need a car I can tinker with, and even better, tinker with and add aftermarket stuff.

My V8 Miata was perfect for this, and so is my IM.

I'm an addict and there is no cure.  Nor do I want one....but my wife does

Addiction, Affliction..

its known as Three Fifty Sickness.

This illness is primarily a psychiatric disorder with a prevalence found in

owners of old German sports cars. The pathology definitely has features of

obsessive/compulsive disorder...patients seem to pay excessive amounts of

attention to small details which would normally be viewed as unimportant to a

well individual. The disease also has manic features, as those effected seem

to exceed their monetary means regularly. Behavior may be viewed as anti-

social and has been known to cause marital problems.Apart from the obvious

mental aberrations, affected persons may also exhibit certain physical

characteristics. One can often identify patients by an unkempt appearance,

oil and grease about the body and clothes is common. Dirt under the

fingernails is nearly universal, as are multiple contusions and abrasions about

the hands, especially the knuckles. Affected individuals have been known to

finish one project only to obtain another, thus the cycle repeats. I must

conclude that this disorder is chronic and incurable.

Fortunately, there are group therapy sessions held periodically throughout

the world! as well as on the SOC

For the price,(30K+) I am happy for what I got,the looks are incredible, and the performance is great for "what it is". I have owned a few vinatge cars and this car totally "feels vintage".

If I had bought a real one,I would be disappointed for the "value",and would not "enjoy" driving it,since there is so much fear of degredation/rust. I took the money I saved from buying a real one and invested in more real estate. A win/win for sure.
