I hope Miss Idaho has held up better than her speedster did.
Does that air intake hose go where I think it goes....like in straight down?
I forgot to mention the optional "gas inferno" 59 cent plastic fuel filter hung over the distributor.

Over heating issues aside, nothing makes one of our cars less attractive than being able to see the ground when looking at the engine!
Looks as though she was rode hard and put away in tact....the CAR boys, not miss I da ho! Proof that those little plastic fuel filters don't necessarily cause fires...errrr....that is...at least sometimes anyway
I had a belt break and it narrowly missed the fuel filter. I changed it up right after!

Ya - mine is also out of the engine bay and away from heat Rusty! I am also looking into changing out the rubber hose for some other more substantial fuel line material. I was told that the hard metal lines are also prone to cracking and therefore fuel potentially dangerous fuel spills because they are not flexible. Doing some research to see what makes the best/safest fuel line, but bottom line - frequent maintenance checks no matter what material is used makes for safe rides...and a good Halon or other fire suppression system of course.
What style shroud is that? And is that the dipstick wayover on the right side by the red hose?
You're right, Art, there are a couple of different things about that engine. On the right side of the shroud (just above the heater air horn) is the regulator, but the shroud face seems to be shaped a little bit differently just above the top coil mount?
And I have no clue what the dipstick is doing way over there!
And as Troy noted when you can see the ground through the engine compartment it's not good; and in this one, you can see a lot of ground...
