I'm having a new flared cabrio build for me by Specialty Auto. i spoke with Steve the other day, and after the usual long wait, my car is just beginning to go together. Spring 2010 delivery.
I want to install as wide a tire as possible on the rear of the car, without getting into body modifications. I'm thinking 17" is tall enough for the wheel.
What size tires are people running? What are my wheel suppier choices? I love the look of Rob's turbo (I've actually ordered the 2.5 turbo-more torque)but would like to keep it a little lower. Maybe a lower profile tire?
What you think?

Nolan,
Thanks for the reply. I've admired your car for a while-great color combination.
I just got back from visiting my friend with a 2007 911 S. he has 365 30's! on there! I love that look, but am sure those won't fit in there.
How wide do you think I could go? Did you pick the wheels or did Steve? What kind of choices? I've been looking at Tire Rack and it seems like they have huge selections.
And madness it is. I have a beautiful 1994 RX 7 with 43000 miles on it, and I'm going to sell it (I think?) just after I take delivery of the Cabriolet. Must have something to do with greener grass, or maybe the other woman?
Or maybe I'll become Morman and keep both. Now that is madness!
Steve
I let Steve go the tire/wheel route. I only advised him I wanted a 5 or 6 spoke easy-to-clean wheels, either 17" or 17.5". He found he wheels and matched some great looking wide-ass tires to them. My bad was that I lowered the car about an inch in the rear before the coil-overs had a chance to settle. In any case the worn inner fenders are not visible until the wheels are removed. Thanks for the compliment on the paint job, but isn't it funny that the "other" guy's car always seems to look sharper?

Hi guys,
3rd week in October could work for me. I live mid-coast Maine, so I'm guessing about a 14 hour drive-maybe less? It's about 12 to Philadelphia. It takes me 4 hours just to cross the Maine/ NH boarderline!
I'm hoping if i show up in my '94 RX 7, maybe no one will laugh!

I'll check with my other half to see if she wants to come. I'll tell her it will be a good chance to see if she will fit into the Cabriolet. She has 36" legs!
Thank you guys. I did a mapquest and it is almost 1200 miles from here! I'm thinking that's a bit far. Maybe I'll fly and rent. Am also sailing a boat from Maine to Tortola BVI's end of October, so it may be a bit too much on my plate. Can't get out of the boat delivery.
I'll keep you informed.
Marty---good for you on driving. I saw a plaque on a car at Carlisle that said "If you see this car on a trailer, call the police, because someone has stolen it!"

Don't sell your self short about long trips becausr your Chicago to Carlisle this year is quite an an accomplishment! But you will be a legend after the Morrow Bay drive next year!
