i just went and looked at the car, and bought it, it's got a fiberglass windshield surround, not metal like all the speedsters i've ever seen, but i don't know who made this kit. Also it's not a high windshield, it's low like a speedster. It's a running driving car, no interior (seats and carpet), also odd is that it has a glove box, with an original porsche door. Very weird kit, but it has fresh paint on it, just needs seats, ect....the one big thing i'm worried about is that it has no windshield, and that i think will be a big hurdle....any ideas?????
Also the motor seems higher than any kit i've seen, the rear engine cover/lid is made out of flat fiberglass, maybe even wood, i don't know.....anyone with any input would really help me out....

thanks

martin
Does it have wind up windows and squared off front hood? Maybe its an Envemo cabriolet (or made later using their moulds)!

i backed out of the deal, the car was nice, fresh paint (silver), needed finishing, all parts there except for the windshield, no interior/seats. And then at $5000 plus after studying the pics you guys showed me, it looks like it was a cabriolet, but modified to look like a speedster, that explains the rear engine lid, and the slightly wavy glass work above the engine lid. after talking to the guy, the windshield was modified shorter to look like a speedster, so i'm thinking a windshield would be impossible to find, just making it hard to build.....

thanks for the input guys,

martin
Yeah $5k is chump change in speedster world (even replicas). Sounds like it might have been a coupe if the rear deck was changed. I've seen where hot rodders frequent have normal size production windshield glass cut down to their chopped vehicles - not off the shelf but not impossilbe to repicate. Interior is quite simple carpets, flat door panels and Porsche 914 seats ($200-1000). Either post some pictures or send some to one of us so we can post them for you. Sounds interesting.
well the paint was good, but the prep work was meah....no interior, tired old vw chassis, looked like a original stock 1600dp, was on a 73 frame, and most of the body was hacked/homemade, none of the engine was cowled, open to the back, and the wheels were visible from the engine compartment. Over all, a bit too much, all it had was bumpers, lights, no trim, shaved door handles, looked like ALOT of work to make that thing road worthy, and the windshield was the deal breaker. A speedy windshield setup would cost $800-1000, plus you would have to do body work to remove the fiberglass windshield surround, which would involve painting it again (at least the front) and on and on......if he had the windshield i would have considered it. But with that much fab work to be done on a hacked speedy, what would it be worth after it was done? $10K???? I couldn't give away my old 57 speedy CMC that had 3300mi on it high quality build.......
