Hey John,

I was very concerned about this same situation when I was buying a speedster. I am 6'3" & I fit in fine. I also see my reflection sometimes while driving and the car does not look too small for me (surprisingly). I had Kirk cut the seats down a bit so they are lower than usual & I am using the roadster seats (speedster seats will put you even lower). It takes a little while to get used to getting in & out with the top up though, but with a little practice it's no problem.
I loved Gary Owen's comment (above).

My Thunder Ranch build has Fibersteel Speedster seats they are firm and supportive and I don't find them uncomfortable (So far my longest drive is about 6 hours). I am nearly six feet tall (32" inseam) and I have 2 or 4 inches of travel left on the seat rails which I believe could have been set back even further, if I was a basketball star.

The windshield frame is low. It harmonizes with the beautiful lines of the body. It's nota Miata.

John, you can fit in a pan based car... but the seats need to be bolted to the rails, or even the floor with spacers up front to give your legs some lift for the pedals. See the knowledge section. I would also recommend ordering the "speedster" seats on a JPS or VS. Doing these things will keep your forehead from catching bugs at speed.

I don't know about the TRs, Becks, or SAWs, but on my IM, I can actually back the seat "too far" to reach the pedals safely with the Speedster Repo Seats. I also have driven Roadsters and Dale's Speedster (IM) with the Roadster seats and I thought they fit nicely... and are very comfortable.

...never one to honor diplomacy, I noted all the replies were directed to your height and no one touched on your girth. Two hundred seventy pounds can be strapping or it can be portly. I suggest you jump in our registry and find someone close to your home then lumber on over and try a car on for size.

It could be that you'll love the car at first blush and be able to figure out the adjustments needed to suit your build (double entendree) or it may be that it is just not comfortable.

I took Brian Bell for a spin in my car when he and I were at Knotts a couple years ago and he made the comment that, "Your car is pretty peppy for having nearly six hundred pounds of passengers in it..."

He and I were shoulder to shoulder.

I have a CMC Speedster and asked the very same question last August before buying one. I am 6' 6" tall and 225#. I use Speedster seats bolted to adjustable rails that are bolted right to the floor without spacers. My seats are also bolted all the way back on the sloping portion of the pan. My legs wind up slightly bent, arms almost fully extended, line of sight just below the top of the windscreen. Will I fit with the top up? No idea, never installed a top.....just use a tonneau in the bad weather.

Girth may be an issue. I have a 36" waist and find by nether regions just barely jam into the narrow speedster seats. Remember that these have short side to hold you in place (or hold you completely out of the bottom of the seat). I also use a tiny wheel so my knees clear. I can get in just fine, getting out is a bit ungainly especially if I forget the trick and get started out the wrong way.
