Am I missing something? Current bid: 42K???
With restored cars fetching $200-250K, basketcase Speedsters (more complete than this one however) have pushed into the low 6 figures. The last yard find that was on ebay went for over $80K, no motor, and only slightly better than the one linked (no floors, longitudiunals rotted, closing panels rotted, inner and outer rockers gone, etc)
There is not a single usable panel on that pile-o-rust. They're basically paying for the VIN tag. Insane.
My favorite line in the entire ad "It appears that it was crashed...."
So how do we join the "More Money Than Brains" club?? I just cant see a VIN being worth $40k.. that and the Reutter plate are the only things left that aren't rusted through..
what would be cheaper is to replicate that vin tag (now that he has shown the world) and register your tub as that one.
Illegal? maybe.. but you'll save a 5h!tload of cash
why would a vin be worth so much
east coast guys please explain
Just another mint condition Illinois car....
Oh yeah, $46k. That old race car has provenance! It's much better than Zimmer's POS.
I had Vintage build a medium-wide body for me in about 1998 or so. I copied many of the details of Max' car, including the Kinesis wheels, stainless roll bars, etc. He's a cool guy with a cool car. Max doesn't need the car to make him cool, he just is.
