Does anyone know, or know of any links or whatever that could help me out with a few tech questions regarding VW parts replacing Porsche parts on a 356?

The "usual" 356 forums are no help really, mostly suggesting that I retain the stock Porsche bit and pieces as they are. I want to swap out the entire Porsche engine. trans, swing axles, hub carriers, and rear disk brakes for some REALLY heavy duty drag racing parts that came off of an early 60's Beetle.

As far as I can tell, other than the front trans mount and a fabricated rear trans "hoop" (because it's a unibody, the 356 has a bulkhead mounted hoop to hang the trans on, NOT frame horns) it's mostly a question whether the bearing carriers/axle tubes will mount to the ends of the 356 spring plates.

I would imagine that the VW axle length might be off, but I really need some hard info on the process, or at least a LITTLE something to go on to BEGIN with.

I would imagine that my only other option might be to locate some information on installing Porsche parts into a VW and read it in the mirror . . . . backwards and left to right. . . .
