My first post on this forum, but i have come to that point where i need to tap into other peoples knowledge!  I am building a Speedster Clinic Coupe, which whilst clearly not a convertible, is obviously similar to the speedster kits in many ways.  Can anyone recommend which wiper motor assemble works best in these kits?  I'm assuming a beetle one will work and can get a full assembly for a 1969-73 model at a good price.  Does this work?  Anyone got any photos of how they mounted theirs??

Thanks!

I'm going to finish this thing, even if it kills me...

You can look in the CMC build manual here on SOC.  CMCs and most of the others just use the std VW bug assembly.  Used complete under $50. The problem with it is its speeds are slow and slower.  I was always going to substitute a 914 unit which appears to be same size and style (self-contained) - my thinking is it had 3x the size blades so must have a more powerful motor and I know you can add a delay control unit to it.  I believe it is still only 2 speeds though.

and here's the one from a '70-76 914 (it may well be the exact same motor)

In UK?  In US there is only 1 doctor - DrClock.  43 builds has to be a record.

No need to over think the wipers - like convertible top, they are for emergency use (and maybe getting thru safety inspection).  The bug wiper is easy to use and inexpensive.  I did look at ebay and even a nice complete 914 assembly can be had for $50-75.
