Up in the Resource/Knowledge section, I have just posted a complete set of instructions for installing a Speedster windshield.

It comes from posts 6 or 7 years back from Alan Merklin and me about installing a bunch of windshields back then and includes a few questions and answers from the forum.

I couldn't find it on here (the new site) but know it was part of the old site threads - maybe got lost in the shuffle but I also found I had saved it to my server as part of my notes for building my last Speedster (which Alan finished  - Wonder where it ended up, anyway??

Let us know if you have any questions and we'll do what we can to help.

Here all y'all go:

I just remembered a post-script:

Personally, I have found that Speedster windshields are surprisingly tough - you can beat on them, muscle them around and generally abuse them without immediate repercussions, BUT (and this is a really big BUT...) they really do not like point-pressure from, say, a screw or something pushing on them (especially having too much metal protruding towards the windshield from the top of the center strut), and they also do not like significant corner or center torque, like from someone using the upper corner of the windshield as a hand-hold to get in and out, or from the center strut being too tight and stressing the top center (which really stresses the whole center section like trying to fold a piece of paper).

Use the installation guide and let it almost float in the frames, do not make the upper frame too tight into the corner posts and don't tighten the center strut nut more than 3/4 turn beyond finger tight and you should be fine.

Good luck!
