Todd, I went through the same thing. Do a search on CMC windshield and you will find templates and a lot of good info. I also found out that the windshield just sits behind the bottom aluminum extrusion and you seal it with tons of sealant. I didn't like that so I purchased a lower windshield gasket from Vintage Speedsters that allows the extrusion to sit in a slot in the gasket.

One more thing you should check is the shape of the mounting area on the body. If you look at the postings you will see where most guys have had to add bondo to the mounting area to match the contour of the bottom of the windshield. I did.
Todd, It's rubber. The gasket that comes with the kit has two slots in it. The windshield fits in one and it seems like the aluminum extrusion should go in the other but it doesn't. The two slots are in line with each other and as you can tell the windshield is on at least a 45 deg. angle and the extrusion is 90 degrees. The Vintage seal has a slot that you can actually use for the extrusion. I believe it cost about $50.

I also had to reform the aluminum channel that goes around the top and sides of the windshield. It says you should put it on the windshield and gently tap it to make it conform to the windshield shape. I was too chicken to do that so I made a thin wooden template and used a rubber hammer and refomed the radius that didn't fit.
Here's a template that CMC sent me ages ago (note the paper yellowing!) --- its tad rough but will give ya better idea. Recall my build manual said use dimples in body --- could not find a single one! They faxed it to me so suspect it distorted a bit --- I added measurement so I'd take average of two as a start. You may want to buy (or make rubber) gaskets for under the two stantions - I got mine from Klasse356 (and the ones for the hood handle too).
