I got tied of looking at the black windshield wiper arms on my 2000 Vintage Speedster (as being a clear sign of replica).

A few weeks back I bought a used set of vintage/old school Kadron air cleaners.  They needed some attention so I ended up sanding them down and painting them the closest to the original silver color I could find.  I ended up going with a VHT wheel paint (Argent Silver) that I saw posted on The Samba as being closest.  It was very easy to go on and looked great once done.

I was so pleased at how the air cleaners turned out (as well as the robust polyurethane paint itself) that I decided to do my wiper arms.

Posting pics of the results if others are interested.  A fun couple of projects that I feel brings the car a little further away from EMPI land.

Thanks, Grant

Hello Art:

It took me about 2 hours to pull off, sand (the most time) and paint (about 3 coats), 5 days for the paint to fully cure, and 10 minutes to install.  I ended up removing the rubber blades so everything else was painted silver to replicate the 356s.

All in, a very rewarding project that makes the car look alittle less like a VW, and with the polyurethane paint I have little concerns about weathering.  The paint was available at Autozone if that helps where you live.

Thanks, Grant
