While it very rarely rains in Southern Arizona, when it does, you find that what pass for windshield wipers are actually desicated, petrified tendrils that remove the glass from your windshield before they will touch the water there.
Can anyone provide a make & model number?

Try Rain-X, it worked for me. Best trick is to stay out of the rain, I got caught in a Toad-Strangler of a downpour and it took nearly two weeks for the carpets to dry. I had nearly an inch and a half of water to drain from the inside of my Perry 550. I drilled some small holes through the pan to let the water out then sealed them afterwards.
