A long time ago I set up a group purchase for windshields from a supplier on the east coast.
He has contacted me and has some very good prices on convertible "D" models about 10 of them and he's checking on the speedster windshields which price he has to confirm. He wants to ship the "D" windshields to one location (at his cost) and will provide a group discount price for tthe right number of spdstr w.shields.
Any interest?

Cory,
I have a couple of extra windshields sitting around that might fit the ticket. They are still in the correct shape and would be excellent for a "mold". One is an original CMC that is pretty fogged and the other is one that I bought from Carey Hines that didn't quite make the trip to Florida. Looked like someone poked a hole in the box with a forklift.
I might be making a roadtrip up north in a couple of weeks with a Suburban and an empty trailer and could probably drop one off to you. Only payment that I will accept will be a ride in the hoopty.
Let me know if you want to try it on your own and can use one of these windshields. Right now they are just taking up shelf space.
Jim
Absolutely. Bring warm clothes. I think Alan has a CMC windshield frame for me.
Back on topic for a second, I think there's potential to round out the 10-piece order with 'pay it forward'-type contributions if there isn't enough immediate need. I'll certainly chip in, even though I don't need one right now. Never know when the Spyder's will crack -- and I don't own that car yet.
Here's the latest---All windshields shipped in proper heavy duty cardboard shipping containers which have an internal rack that hold the windows vertical. Shipping in Qty==cheaper.
1. awaiting firm price (usually pretty good.
2. Robert--I checked on an Asian supplier, no speester windshields anymore. Give me your shipping info and I'll get an estimate
3. Brian---give me your address and I'll get an estimate (I think business address=cheaper, if available)
4. Rocky, Gordon, Wolfgang---How about 6-7 windows shipped to Toms River then picked up from there?
------This guy is a wholsale shop and would rather not get involved --------with shipping one here and one there. The shipping container ---------costs between $20-$30 each and I think it can hold at least 6.
I'll update the cost as soon as I hear.
This is the latest: All windows are shipped in proper windshield shipping containers. Heavy duty cardboard with a kind of internal
rack system that holds them upright/secure. Cheaper shipped in Qty.
1. I'm awaiting a firm price (in the past it was pretty good)
2. Robert, I checked into an Asian supplier but was told they are no longer putting out speedster windshields. I will check on the shipping
to you. Please provide shipping address/info-Thanks.
3. Brian(Alaska)--need your shipping info and I'll get it estimated
4.Will (Florida)--same as above
5.Gordon, Wolfgang, Rocky----How about 6 or 7 windshileds shipped
to Toms River
Bruce - For us Southerner's I don't mind picking them up from Jersey and hauling them back to DC Metro area for others to pick up from me (If I don't have to store but a few weeks). Suspect a box of 6 would fit in back of 4Runner with rear seat down. Mine is not fully mounted to my Speedie and is already showing signs of clouding around the edges from just sitting in garage.
To the nj Toms River connection------8 in the box, Pilkington brand (of higher caliber), $215 each.
All others---It's the $215, $30 shipping container and usually $90 or so shipping=ouch!
If you can make up a central shipping location and qty boost, I think he will eat some of the costs.
I hope this helps.
Ok----I'm still awaiting info for Robert and Yellowknife shipping.
In ref to the Tom's river NJ "drop" please respond here to this thread
and we'll get a final total. Don't email me directly as I am already
overwhelmed with those. We'll give it a week or so to complete the list.

I know that

Alan wanted one
Brian V. wanted one
Wolfgang wanted one

Please update this list.
Brian, I'll have that confirmed shortly.
To Robert in Thai.----
It's, $215 per w/shield, $20. shipping container(pretty sure), and shipped by BAX from here
to Bangkok airport is $198 (insured). From the airport on and any duties tax etc....is on your end.
Yellowknife--$215 windshield, $20 box, $145 shipped to you-duties,tax etc...extra and yours. I,ve shipped motorcycle parts to CA before I think they collect 14 or 15%=no fun.

Brian Puskas -- I don't have to be concerned about DOT legal (so far). I have special plates, and the Street Rod category in Maryland has loads of loopholes. Lexan might or might not work where you're at, but I suspect you'd have to find a 'car guy' at the registration desk to get the number plates allowing for the modification.
For example, I don't have wipers; I can't drive in the rain without a helmet and eye protection. I'm treated like a motorcycle that way -- if my headlights are on and my head and eyes are protected, I don't need wipers. Ergo, the plexi windscreen I have is okay for my application. But because I don't have a motorcycle under me, I don't need a DOT helmet. Blah, blah, blah ...
(And when I look like this ... I guess they'd rather not ask.)
