I finally finished fabricating these for my car today and thought I'd share what they look like installed. One 3/16" Allen wrench removes them in less than 5 minutes if you need to put your top up. The transparent red visor is dark enough to kill most of the sun glare making tolerable driving into the sun.......Ah the joy of playing with these little cars !..........Bruce

Looks good Bruce.
Wow! Nice work.
Especially like the finish work and Porsche logo. Is that actually etched into the material? Great work.
I'll take a set if you ever make more. I get a lot of sun...
Looking thru rose colored glasses would put a different spin on the world. NICE JOB! Definately a market for such option.
Those look pretty awesome, Bruce! Great job in fabricating those!
Could you share some details in the hardware ( the chrome and hinge bits)? Where did you find it? Or did you fab it?
looks awesome!
I saw saw an early '50s outlaw coupe with some wings a few months back, and have been thinking about making a pair for some time...
great at work and detailing!

Thanks for the comments. A friend of mine lazered the Porsche logo's in. They are made of Acrylic (Plexiglas) because Lexan is not available in colors. Only clear and bronze. In Acrylic there are many colors available in transparent, translucent, opaque, bronze, and mirror (the one way mirror stuff. Also brilliant pink green and orange so if anyone really wanted something to go on Janis Joplin's car, it's available!
I fabricated the hinges out of aluminum billet and then polished them. If i make any more I have a better version in mind but still attractive yet more compact.
If there is enough interest i will look for someone who can produce these on a CNC machine. I could deliver the etched border or most anything else that is in black and white and camera ready that you have in mind but not the Porsche logos. Porsche would be in my nose about that. Price?? I have no idea until i talk to a CNC guy, my engraver, and how many to make on the first run. The four hinges alone to me 38 hours to design fabricate, polish and assemble.
I have no idea if there's much of an interest in these so let me know.......Bruce
P.S. I also built a fold-up polished aluminum foot peg for a left side foot rest if anyone is interested.
Carlos;
I wonder how often a person gets pulled over driving her car? It's pretty cool.
I saw her perform at the Fillmore, more years ago than I can count.
BTW, there is a replica of her car listed on Samba for a cool $100K.

That car would get more attention than a normal 356, which is a lot. I wonder what color the registration says it is.
Bruce,
Do you have a shot of the foot peg? I've been kicking around an idea for a passenger foot rest in my Spyder.
I've done some fabricating in aluminum and was thinking of a mount for a small round mirror on the left windshield frame. I have the GT mirror, but I don't want to drill 4 holes in the fender just yet. A wing/mirror might work........... mmmm
Art - Hope you didn't inhale?
I tried to see her Porsche 356C while visiting Boeing in LA at Pettersen's, but it had moved. It is now at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH.

I'd be in for a pair of each. TAIWAN seemed to get around the emblem police by leaving off the STUTTGART and later the PORSCHE logos.

Bruce, I'd be interested in the fold-up polished aluminum foot peg for a left side foot rest. I'm afraid of wearing out that area of carpet too. You do Somme great work.
Nice fabrication on the wings/visors, Bruce. I really like the mounting system. I've been playing with making some wings for my car, finally got a design made I like but still have not come up with a mount design...do like your mount system though.
I'm driving down to Huntington Beach in the Speedster today(The US open surfing championship is on) So sometime today I will take a photo of the foot peg and post it.....Surf's Up....gotta go.......Bruce
Beautiful work, Bruce. I think I might have to make something for wings on my Spyder, great idea.
Carlos, as far as the fender mirror, mine is only two holes. One for the actual mirror and one more for the aero cover. I put a speed nut on the mirror cover so one screw from underneath is all you need. I think I used a license plate screw, 6 x 1.0 mm. I have a local hardware place that has EVERYTHING you could think of. Old-school, don't call, just go in and ask at the counter. Cheap too.
Im interested in the foot rest as well!!!!!
