Vince,
We are thinking of going, as spectators. I don't plan to register/show the car. In fact, if the parking is as they say, we'll probably drive the Highlander. Here's some more info from my bro-in-law...
The event is VERY good and this year will be even better (more planes, show
cars and helos than previous shows). Will have the Navy Leapfrogs Parachute
Team jumping from a CH-47 at about 1300, the Goodyear Blimp will be doing a
fly-over at about 1500, and we're still waiting to see if an F-16 Falcon or
F-22 Raptor (we'll get one or the other) will be doing the sonic boom
fly-over at about 1000; we're also hoping to get some more fly-overs out of
Edwards (B-52, C-17, B-1 or B-2, etc.).
As far as the crowd goes, they are putting out more publicity this year than
ever before, so are expecting in excess of 15K (or more); last year we had
about 10K. Parking will be first-come-first-served, so the earlier the
arrival, the better the parking; Civil Air Patrol Cadets will be directing
the public into the parking lots (and Disneyland-style parking them in those
lots will poor striping, as well as on the grass over-flow parking areas).
Public/spectator hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
If any Speedster Club members are planning on showing, I would strongly
recommend that they pre-register (the link is on the website you found)
instead of waiting and registering at the show. Show car entrance hours are
from 5:30-8:45 a.m. and they will have the opportunity to have a picture of
their car taken with either an F-16 or P-51 Mustang, if they want (I think
the fee is listed on the registration form; it's a commercial photographer
who takes the pictures).
