Wiper arms

How did you fit the wiper arms to the spindles? My kit-supplied wiper arms have a collett that squeezes over the spindle when tightened, but doesn’t tighten enough and the spindles eventually turn but the arms remain stationary. I was considering drilling a tiny hole in the side and fitting a small bolt to keep things working. Any thoughts welcome.

There are several different configurations running around out there.
