Wireing Question

Where does the small blue wire from the altenator go to? I have it going from the altenator to a separate idiot lite on the dash. Where does it go from there and end up at? I only have a three prong key switch with a 1) Battery, 2)Ignition, 3) Solinoid ?

If it's the wire that comes from the spade lug terminal on the alt., you're good so far. Hook it to the switched side on the ignition so it's hot when the key is on. It provides a reference voltage for the regulator in the alternator.

THANKS BILL! It is now comming from the Altenator spade to the idiot lite to the ignition post on the key switch...

If you have to "blap" the throttle to extinguish the light after starting... try a higher wattage bulb. It will drop more volts across the bulb showing a lower level to the alt. allowing it kick in sooner. Or just blap it, once it's on it's on.

If you have to "blap" the throttle then you have the blue wire to the bulb backwards ....Believe this or not but the way it works correctly and to excite the altenator,

Run the blue wire to the brass portion of the bulb (ground side) and then run a good chassis ground to the "tit" (positive ) on the bulb . I know it sounds "bass ackwards" but it is correct.
