I spent most of last evening and today trying to figure out my wiring problems. Key on lights off turn signals work. Key on, lights on, no signals at all and real dim tail lights. Car running no right signal. left real slow. I have tried tracing wires but under the dash is a birds nest in a bowl of spahgetii. I talked to Kirk and he said to just rewire the whole mess.I think I will drop it off on Tues.so it will be ready by Fri.am. I hope it gets done quick!

Mark, save your money and listen to Barry. You have a weak or missing ground. To trouble shoot make a 10 foot jumper wire. Secure one end to the battery ground, turn your key to on, lights on, visit you light assemblies with the loose end of your jumper, touch your jumper/ground to each ground at the light assy, your lights will turn on or go bright when you reach the trouble.
While I was at it I reworked my headlight buckets. I removed the bulbs in the bottom, covered the holes with a sheet metal skin and put flat plexi lens' so my stone guards fit flush now. I think it looks trick!
I didn't have a cover for my fuse block in the trunk so I modified an old valve cover and screwed it over the whole mess. Thats why I love working on these cars... no rules!
I got a set of luggage straps from Dusty the other day with some cool retro stickers for that vitage suitcase I scored at drag day.
All ready to cruze Hwy 1 . Looking forward to this weekend in Morro!
Later, Markos
Mark,

great job. Can't wait to check out your new engine. You are right it is fun working on these cars.

My headlights just went out Thursday but I remembered to check the fuse in the light switch first and that was it.
I just installed a CHT gauge yesterday. You can also see the new lower dash valance I installed last week. It took 6 hands to glue down the leather. (leather cost $26.00, got lucky with the match) I covered over the vent holes until I get the trims.
Morro is fast approaching.

See you there.

Dave

Allan,

The previous owner Joe Pelizzoni got the trim rings on the 914 gauges. Don't know where he got them.

The Dakota Digital CHT gauge comes in chrome as an option. I then got a very inexpensive chrome gauge holder from Kragen for like $5.95. Keeping it mounted low on the drivers side it is a little more stealth than under the radio like I planned at first.
