There was something about the shape of the old Ford tractors, from perspective of a 10 year old kid... looking over that big steering wheel and the long hood with headlights angled out on stems, no fenders.... well, it seemed like an old Indy car from the movies if you let your imagination go. At least that's the way I saw it long ago.
Whilst at college (doing the whole hairy art student thing) the head of my course had an E-Type coupe with the V12 in it. That car looked like it was doing a ton standing still. The same guy also owned a Citroen DS (with the swivelling headlights).

I have always wondered how anyone who showed show great taste, and appreciation for such classic automobiles, could still be such a wanker when it came to the rest of the world!
