Wolfgang,

How are you progressing on your Speedster build?

Will you have it at Carlisle?

I am trying to finish my engine install. I had a problem with the driver side heater box lever hitting the diagonal tube of my kafer truss system.

Finally, I moved the top horizontal tube all way to the right to move the top of the diagonal bar over and did some trimming on the lever bits. I also put the top of the diagonal tube on the other side of the tab on the horizontal tube

I am still hoping to have it at Carlisle, but I have said that the previous two years.

I need to post some pictures and progress reports. Man, you're all way to worrying about heat! So much snow and cold in the South here (ha, Wash DC) that haven't done much other than shovel snow and feed logs into fireplace.

Am still working toward my Speedies debute at Carlisle this year - hence my post on replacing the 21 year old XZX Michelin tires. Room reserved!

Last progress was adding fog lights (restored old 914 ones infront of fire during the Blizzard of 2010) per TCs directions - they have the brass polished trim rings. I also got the front bumper brackets knotched and complete bumper installed (including spash shields and horns). Plus have wires strung to all this new stuff on front. Next biggies are mounting gauges (need to do some dash fiberglassing - so need warm garage) then the painless wiring.

Good news is my contract ends 31 Mar - and renewal is not likely so should have lots of time to tackle remaining tasks. Just hoping company lays me off and I can collect couple years of unemployment like rest of country is doing. Fear is they will pull me into HQ and have me writting proposals until I actually quit.

Attached is picture when I lowered off jack stands - sway bar hit bumper brackets (so front sits high) and left rear is too low (compared to right rear). Oops - add adj rear torsion bars to list.

I'll take one of fog lights and under front soon. And TC's luggage rack mounted! Little things like will engine run before oil leaks out, will brakes stop once they have fluid and are bleed, plus where the heck are the oil pressure springs and screw in caps? I'll be embarrished to tow it there but that might be the case.

So my Toyota will do 100+ mph now - probably go faster if I hit the accelerator pedal and take foot off brake too!
