Got the wiring all sorted out tonight and everything hooked up. Tried to start it and had two spark plug wires crossed. Pretty flames out the carb! Fixed that and it now lives again!

Now to my question: can someone take a look at thier Cyl Head temp guage and tell me how its hooked up? I put the sender on the spark plug (has two wires) and there are two connectors on the back of the guage that are labled + and ground. What am i missing here?

Thanks,
Ben

VDO? the wires from the sender should be red(+)and black(-). In laymen's terms, this type of sender creates it's own micro voltage to the gauge and viola! That's why they continue to work even though the ignition is in the "off" position. You should use high grade copper wire for the connection if it's not already included in the kit. VDO did have some CHT gauges that were mis-calibrated from the factory a few years back, I happened to get a set and it was perplexing. Easy fix was to simply switch wire position at the gauge, black to pos/red to neg. Fortunately I had read about the problem on an aircooled enthusiast site!
