I was attempting to paint correct my speedster and made the mistake of buffing through the clear coat in two spots despite my best attempts at being gentle and prepping appropriately.   My question is is it worth it to repaint the entire car which is what I was advised to do by two different people?  There are a few chips and spots from prior owner that were touched up.  Not sure how old the car is but a new paint job would def breathe new life into it.  Was quoted about $5k to paint everything including correcting a line that is noticeable on the bak just behind the seat which appears to be a defect in the fiberglass.

I found a guy who does panel repairs etc and that's an option.  Will prob cost around $600 which sounds a lot better.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

That said, if you do go re-paint for whatever reason, here's another idea to consider: plastic protective film PPF. At least over the front half of the car. I recently had that done after the front was repainted due to an accumulation of road rash and a serious ding in the fender.  It's not cheap, and the technology here has advanced quite a bit in recent times.  It looks stunning and the real deal here is: no more road rash.  Just a thought.  Depending where you live, ask around about who does this sort of thing and does it right.
